Generally installed outdoors, along the existing walls (such as brick walls, cement walls, and iron fences), with a detector connected to the near end and a receiver connected to the far end. If an intruder attempts to invade, the first thing they will see is a warning sign hanging on the fence that reads ‘High Voltage, No Climbing’, which provides a psychological deterrent. If attempting to cross and touch the metal wire of the fence, give an electric shock to make it retreat and dare not touch again. If forced climbing occurs, the electric fencing system will immediately sound an alarm. On the other hand, electric fencings use flexible hanging poles, which do not provide support when intruders attempt to cross, making it impossible for them to cross. This is the effective buffering function of the electric fencing.
In terms of safety, the electric fencing adopts an extremely low pulse repetition frequency, once per second, with a pulse duration of ≤ 0.1 seconds. The maximum energy of the pulse is 5 joules (maximum charge of 2.5 millicoulombs), and due to its small energy and charge, it does not harm people. It only provides a very uncomfortable high-voltage touch inductance and vibration, causing serious mental and physical damage to the intruder, shaking their ability and motivation to climb over the fence and invade, achieving the goal of safe obstruction.
It is precisely because of its excellent functions of deterrence, obstruction, and timely alarm that electric fencings have become the preferred choice for security alarm systems, as they can prevent criminal intrusion.
The specific application advantages of the electric fencing are as follows:
1 Low false alarm rate
The biggest advantage of electric fencings compared to other perimeter alarm systems is their low false alarm rate. Electric perimeter alarm systems have experienced products such as infrared radiation, vibration cables, leakage cables, induction cables, pulse electric fencings, etc.
Other types of product false alarms are reflected in: infrared radiation can generate alarm signals for small animals, leaves, strong ultraviolet rays, etc., which is what we call false alarms, but the probability of infrared radiation causing false alarms is extremely low. There are certain limitations in the installation of vibration cables, and external vibrations such as wind can cause false alarms in the product. For example, using a ladder to climb up and down a fence can prevent the fence from producing vibration effects, which means that the system may miss alarms. Leakage cables and induction cables require high sensitivity adjustment for the product. If the sensitivity is increased, it can also cause false alarms for slight vibrations. However, if the sensitivity is decreased, it will also cause leakage alarms. The installation method must be pre embedded, and the construction period and cost are both high.
The electric fencing can overcome external disturbances such as small animals, weather, and greenery, effectively reducing false alarms. The default value for the alarm voltage detected by the pulse host is 3000V. When the electric fencing is affected by external factors and causes voltage leakage below the 3000V alarm line, an alarm output will be generated. So general small animals, trees and other external disturbances will not cause false alarms when the alarm line is 3000V. Birds and animals that fall on the electric fencing are in a suspended state, and the current does not form a circuit, which will not cause voltage leakage in the fence, so there will be no alarm.
If encountering extremely severe weather, the alarm voltage can be adjusted to reduce false alarms. The alarm methods adopted by non-high voltage pulse electric fencings to solve false alarm problems mainly include open circuit alarm and short circuit alarm, and will not alarm in other situations.
2 Good blocking effect
Other products for perimeter alarm system do not have blocking function and can only send alarm signals when personnel enter, while electric fencings are tangible physical fences. Except for metal brackets at corners and other stress points, the vast majority of them are fiberglass elastic brackets, including alloy wires, which also have a certain degree of elasticity. This ensures that the entire fence is an elastic fence, and intruders cannot find the load-bearing point and cannot climb over. If they forcefully climb over, it will cause pulse voltage leakage and generate an alarm. Electric fencings can create a sense of prevention and deterrence for intruders, and the effect of blocking and preventing is very obvious.
3 Strong adaptability
The electric fencing is a tangible fence set up around the perimeter, suitable for various environments such as greenery, humidity, electromagnetic radiation, etc., and will not cause false alarms. The electric fencing system not only has its own independent alarm system, but also can be compatible with existing security alarm systems. Its alarm signal output is a universal interface. It can send alarm signal to the alarm control panel. Moreover, the installation of fences is relatively convenient, which demonstrates strong vitality for their application in the renovation of preventive facilities in residential areas.
4 High level of automation control
The level of automation control software technology for electric fencings is currently the highest among perimeter alarm systems. It can not only display the alarm area and related technical parameters, but also regulate and manage pulse detectors, which greatly reduces the workload of security personnel and enables more effective integration of civil defense and technical defense, bringing convenience to security personnel.
5 Low overall cost
At present, the one-time investment in electric fencings is higher than that of traditional active infrared alarm devices. However, due to the stability and adaptability of the electric fencing, the maintenance cost in the later stage is quite low, and the service life is generally 2-3 times that of active infrared alarm devices, so the overall cost is much lower.
